What is Marian Consecration and Why Does It Matter?
Marian consecration is a powerful spiritual act of entrusting yourself entirely to Our Blessed Mother so she may form you perfectly into the image of her Son, Jesus Christ. It’s not about worshiping Mary—it’s about letting her lead us more fully into the heart of Christ.
When you consecrate yourself to Mary, you are saying “yes” to her maternal care, her protection, and her intercession. You are giving her permission to shape your heart in humility, purity, and courage—the very virtues that made her the perfect disciple.
Many of the Church’s greatest saints—like St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. John Paul II, and St. Teresa of Calcutta—embraced Marian consecration and credited it as essential to their holiness and mission. In fact, St. John Paul II’s papal motto was Totus Tuus ("Totally Yours"), a direct reference to his consecration to Mary.
By consecrating ourselves to Mary, we are choosing the quickest, surest, and most beautiful path to Jesus.
